Data Analyst, Center for the Study of Traumatic Stress

Department of Psychiatry
Uniformed Services University

Katy is a data analyst at the Center for the Study of Traumatic Stress. She graduated from Washington & Jefferson College in May 2019 with a B.A. in Chemistry and Spanish. While at W&J, Katy did diverse research on topics ranging from revolutionary literature during Argentina’s guerra sucia to how chemical probes are changing the cancer diagnosis and treatment landscape. For graduate school, Katy attended the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine for a Master of Science in Public Health. During her time at UM, Katy researched traumatic brain injury prevention programs, the impact of California wildfires on asthma outcomes, and how the cannabis laws of a student’s home state influence their likelihood to use cannabis in college. She is particularly interested in how disasters – both natural and human caused – impact population health. In her free time, Katy loves to bake, read nonfiction, and dabble in genealogy.
